Jack Cardwell was humble. A soft-spoken man, he didn’t seek publicity for his many accomplishments and contributions to the community he loved. He was a successful and charitable businessman. He believed in family, faith and the value of community. He often asked: “What are we doing to help people?”
Yesterday we celebrated a milestone in the construction for the El Paso Children’s Museum and Science Center. We held a small Topping Out Ceremony to mark the occasion and raise the highest beam of the structure into place. We are so excited about all the other milestones to come!

Ten Socorro Independent School District students are participating in a year-long internship program known as Project Search, which assists students with disabilities in their last year of high school to learn employability skills and transition from high school into the workforce. Last year, Project Search was successful in helping 87 percent of the SISD students in the program to obtain employment within the community.
Helen of Troy, a designer, developer and worldwide marketer of consumer brand-name housewares, health, home, and beauty products with U.S. headquarters in El Paso, is donating $1 million to the El Paso Children’s Museum and Science Center to finance its first-floor café, Little Stars Café.
