We are nearing the end of Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and wanted to highlight the Down Syndrome Coalition for El Paso, a supporting organization of the El Paso Community Foundation that is working to build a better tomorrow through education, advocacy and support.
The DSCEP is the result of its members desire as parents to create a path to a brighter future for their children. Founded in January 2015, the DSCEP filled a need for community assistance, resources, and championing for families of individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual challenges.
In addition to creating opportunities to celebrate children, the DSCEP opened Every Little Blessing, a preschool program for children with Down syndrome, implemented an annual educational symposium for parents, and launched a book club for teens and adults with Down syndrome.
The goal of the DSCEP is to partner with more organizations, more parents, and the greater El Paso community to create a better world for all individuals with special needs.
