Another in a series highlighting education initiatives at the El Paso Community Foundation.
ArtStream connects teachers, students, and schools with the creative arts and transformational learning practices and helps teachers and students engage in active learning in the classroom and beyond.
ArtStream began in 2015 as an active learning program through the fine arts initiative of the El Paso Community Foundation, in collaboration with EPISD’s Fine Arts Program and the Philosophic Systems Institute, an EPCF affiliate. Starting with three EPISD elementary schools, the ArtStream team worked with teachers and their students to integrate essential learning elements of fine arts to amplify the breadth of engagement and depth of learning. Since then, ArtStream has worked with more than a dozen schools, several local districts, and many cultural organizations to bring transformational creative art experiences into the learning processes.
There are three main components of ArtStream. It offers professional development training and works collaboratively with teachers and schools to foster rich learning environments in classrooms and beyond. ArtStream’s Artist-In-Residence program connects schools in our region with an ArtStream-trained teaching artist. ArtStream’s learning excursions bridge schools and classroom learning with enriched cultural and outdoor experiences outside of the classroom.
