Started in 2015 in partnership with the office of then U.S. Representative Beto O’Rourke, the El Paso Community Foundation established the Run Internacional: The U.S. – Mexico 10K as a celebration of our binational community. The race begins near San Jacinto Plaza in Downtown El Paso, covering 5K through the streets of El Paso, before crossing into Ciudad Juárez via the Stanton-Lerdo International Bridge for another 5K through the heart of Ciudad Juárez, finishing at the international boundary line on the Paso del Norte International Bridge where El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico meet.
Run Internacional illustrates how one community, united by an international boundary line, blends into one region. Since its beginnings in 2015 with approximately 800 runners, the race has grown into a true regional landmark attracting more than 3,000 participants in its 7th edition. As we look ahead to our 8th edition, we are proud to be planning for 10,000 runners: made possible through binational coordination between U.S. and Mexican authorities, along with the public and private sectors and many supporting organizations, Run Internacional brings positive attention to our border, our sister city, and the spirit that connects us all.
