The El paso Community Foundation Plaza Classic Film Festival was created in 2008 to invite people of all ages to experience the newly-restored historic Plaza Theatre (another project of the Foundation), celebrate movie history, and enjoy the community. The festival features more than 100 classics, family favorites, and a local filmmaker showcase, Local Flavor. There’s truly something for everyone.
For 11 days each summer, the Plaza Classic Film Festival delights attendees with fantastic movies, special guests like F. Murray Abraham, Sam Elliot, Katharine Ross, Richard Dreyfuss, and Rita Moreno, as well as concerts, exhibitions, film talks, receptions, and more. Hosted at the award-winning Plaza Theatre, the “Showplace of the Southwest,” the Plaza Classic Film Festival draws an average of 40,000 attendees each year.
