Much like kids at Christmas, teachers, librarians and principals all lined up trying to sneak a peek at the mountainous variety of school supplies available for pick up at the Classroom Fund reception held November 14, 2012.
The Classroom Fund is a special project of the El Paso Community Foundation and was created in 2011. This year, 183 grants were approved to area educators for school related items such as art supplies, books, college pennants, science tools, musical instruments and computers.
The purpose of the fund is to directly support the efforts of teachers, who, on a limited salary, often buy basic supplies and “extras” for their classrooms at their own cost. Countless heartwarming colorful ‘thank you’ letters from students and teachers have been flowing into our offices since this project began. The fund supports innovation, program enhancement, and supplies for the classroom.
