WHAT IS YOU ROCK?

Our mission is to provide a transformative musical experience for girls, as well as genderfluid, non-binary and trans youth, ages 9-17.

Our vision is to grow You Rock! into a long-term functional music space, with rentable instruments, consistent teaching, and events throughout the year.

Our campers learn to play an instrument, form a band, write an original song, and perform live on stage in 2 weeks. Along with music instruction, campers will participate in community-building workshops, enjoy live musical performances, and more!

THE HISTORY

Since starting in 2023, You Rock! has welcomed campers, across a range of ages between 9-17 to experience the transformative power of music. We’ve worked with the Tegan and Sara Foundation, Ernie Ball, Fender, Portugal the Man, Texas Gas Service, and so many more to ensure campers have the instruments and resources they need to participate.

Coming in 2025, Ladies Rock will provide women with the opportunity to rock (no experience necessary) while raising funds for You Rock!

THE CHALLENGES

Limited Access: You Rock! is the only rock camp in El Paso that focuses on elevating women, non-binary, genderfluid, and trans youth, which can limit number of participants per year.

Financial Strain: We aim to provide resources to all students, despite financial situations, which can strain funds and resources.

Community Development: By investing in local musicians and teachers, we nurture their relationship with the community and the arts.

Reach More Future Music Lovers: We aim to increase our yearly number of participants in the You Rock! Camp.

Resources for Participants: A collection of quality instruments and teachers will grow, giving them more access to continue their craft after the camp ends.
