Based in Punta de Mita, Nayarit, and serving the broader Bahía de Banderas region, the Foundation empowers children, youth and adults, as well as other grassroots organizations, through programs that are built in response to the community’s own identified needs.

At the heart of its work is a clear mission: To promote sustainable community development in Punta de Mita and the Banderas Bay region, empowering communities to find solutions and take action for the common good.

Human Development Focus Area

1. LUDOTECA-DEL MAR EDUCATIONAL PLAY CENTER/LUDOTECA COMUNITARIA DEL MAR: At the heart of Fundación Punta de Mita’s Del Mar Community Center, the Ludoteca offers a vibrant and inclusive space where children and teenagers can freely explore, create, and connect.

Developed to ensure equal access to play, it fosters healthy development by nurturing socioemotional, cognitive, motor, and language skills, all within a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

2. COMPAS: Designed to expand learning opportunities for students in Punta de Mita, beginning in high school and extending beyond. By equipping them with essential life skills and supporting their continued academic success, this program helps young people build a solid foundation for their future. Through personalized guidance and hands-on learning experiences, COMPAS specifically supports students, most at risk of dropping out, to empower them not only to succeed academically but also to confidently navigate the challenges of life and career ahead.

3. TRADE WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING COURSES/TALLERES DE ADULTOS Y CURSOS FORMATIVOS: This educational initiative provides adults in the community—both women and men—with equal access to high-quality technical training with official accreditation. It offers them the opportunity to pursue professional development, enhance their skills, and expand their personal and career prospects. Beyond closing educational gaps, the program equips participants with practical tools to secure better employment, ultimately helping to break cycles of poverty and social exclusion.

4. SHARING DEL MAR/COMPARTIR DEL MAR: This program is focused on opening the doors of the Del Mar Community Center—the heart of our operations— and collaborating in the use of the Corral del Risco Sports Center to better serve the community. It aims to foster a sense of belonging and connection through recreational, educational, cultural, and social activities organized by and for the community, which strengthens community bonds and promotes intercultural understanding locally. While the Sports Center is a municipal facility, Fundación Punta de Mita supports its management and maintenance, ensuring the space remains clean, safe, and accessible for all.

5. CIVIL SOCIETY STRENGHTENING FUNDS/FONDOS DE FORTALECIMIENTO DE LA SOCIEDAD CIVIL: The Foundation strengthens grassroots groups and civil society organizations by providing resources, guidance, and capacity-building support. Through key programs like Pro-Mita, FOROB, and the Conservation Funds, along with events like the Regional Gathering, the Foundation drives collaboration among key stakeholders and fosters sustainable, community-led development across the region.

6. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUNDS/FONDOS DE DESARROLLO COMUNITARIO: These Funds empower local organizations, grassroots groups, and stakeholders through Fundación Punta de Mita’s role as an intermediary. Although funding comes from external sources, the Foundation ensures proper allocation of resources and provides strategic guidance to help community-led projects addressing inequality, limited access to services, and environmental challenges thrive, fostering sustainable development throughout Bahía de Banderas.

7. GENERAL FUND-ALL PROGRAMS/FONDO GENERAL-TODOS LOS PROGRAMAS: By supporting Fundación Punta de Mita’s General Fund, your donation helps strengthen all of our programs and projects, directing resources to where they are needed most. This flexible fund allows us to respond quickly to community priorities, advance key initiatives, and ensure that every dollar makes the greatest possible impact throughout Punta de Mita and the Bahía de Banderas region.
