December 16, 2012, El Paso Police Officer Angel Garcia died serving his beloved community. He was hit by a car while removing debris from Interstate 10. A dedicated public servant, Angel was an active member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and a graduate of Clint High School and El Paso Community College.
In 2013, then-Texas Governor Rick Perry signed House Bill 3946 to designate a portion of I-10 near Joe Battle Boulevard the “Officer Angel David Garcia Memorial Interchange.”
In honor of Angel’s parents, Mike and Elsa Garcia, and in partnership with the El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association, the El Paso Community Foundation will match every dollar raised to erect the signs honoring Officer Garcia.
Your gifts are tax-deductible to the extent of the law, and will do more than support a fallen officer who symbolized humble and dedicated service. These signs will be beacons of safety for all of us.
