The Borderland Rescue Fund, an initiative of the El Paso Community Foundation, was created to meet urgent animal welfare needs across our regionâespecially during times of financial strain. At the heart of this work is our Public Pet Pantry Initiative, a community-powered effort designed to keep pets in loving homes and ease the burden on families and shelters alike.
Too many families are forced to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets. Our Public Pet Pantries remove that impossible choice.
In partnership with the City of El Paso, weâve opened 14 free pet pantriesâone at every El Paso Public Library branch. These pantries provide no-cost pet food and supplies, available during regular library hours and open to anyone who needs support.
How it works:
Each pantry is stocked entirely through community donations and maintained to ensure safety, dignity, and fairness for all.
Your donation directly keeps these shelves stocked. Every $1 donated helps us distribute 10lbs of pet food!
In addition to serving families, we operate a Rescue Pantry that distributes food and supplies to local rescue organizations stretched beyond capacity. By helping rescues meet basic needs, we allow them to focus limited funds on lifesaving care.
There is still time to help. Your giftâno matter the sizeâdirectly supports the Public Pet Pantry Initiative and ensures this critical resource continues into the coming year.
