Compassion in Action Across the Borderland

More than 400,000 pounds of pet food and supplies distributed to pets and families in need in less than 18 months.

The Borderland Rescue Fund, an initiative of the El Paso Community Foundation, was created to address urgent animal welfare needs across our region—helping families, supporting shelters and rescues, and keeping pets where they belong: at home.

🥫 Public Pet Pantries

Our Public Pet Pantry Network provides free pet food and supplies to anyone who needs support, with no paperwork, eligibility requirements, or judgment. Take what you need. One bag at a time. Leave what you can.

In partnership with the City of El Paso, we launched 14 pet pantries—one at every El Paso Public Library branch. The pantries are available during regular library hours and stocked weekly to help ensure resources are available when families need them.

We’re continuing to expand the network to reach even more communities, including our West Texas Pantry, which serves families and pets in neighboring counties.

🐾 Pop-Up Pet Food Distributions

Our work doesn’t stop at the pantry. Through pop-up pet food distributions, we bring free pet food and supplies directly into communities, helping reach families who may not have easy access to a permanent pantry location.

Like our public pantries, these distributions are designed to provide support with dignity and without judgment.

🐕 Rescue Pantry

We also operate a Rescue Pantry that provides food and supplies to local animal welfare organizations. By helping rescues stretch their resources further, we allow them to focus more of their limited funds on medical care, shelter, and lifesaving work.
