Born 1980 in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua on the US-México Border Urban Artist, Printmaker, and Artisanal Baker descended from a long line of panaderos. Founding member of the urban art collective “Rezizte”
Yorch’s work tends to lean toward urban themes and puts a spotlight on life on the border. His work has been shown in formal galleries and alternative spaces throughout the Republic of México as well as in museums such as the Fine Arts Museum of Ciudad Juárez and the National Print Art Museum in México City. He has participated in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, and Medellín, Colombia group art shows.
Yorch’s artwork is omnipresent in the urban arena through art interventions in public spaces via murals, poster installations, and sticker graphics. He has led workshops and projects with groups of youths living in troubled neighborhoods along the US-Mexico border and in other cities throughout Mexico.
In 2009 he developed the graphic project “Sikario” a series of posters printed in 23” x 30” format in response to the years of violence and militarization experienced on the border. From 2014 to 2018 he created the Monument to the Border Being in Ciudad Juárez with a so-called “blue bird” truck cut in half and installed in a public square in the city.
He is currently working on a cultural project entitled “Pan & Prints” that integrates his work both as a baker at “Panadería Rezizte” and a professional printmaker at his shop “Los Entintan” by providing workshops for aspiring bakers and artists.
In 2023 he was commissioned to create a sculpture using discarded ladders fashioned out of rebar that migrants use to scale the border wall. These ladders were collected in El Paso and brought to Cd. Juárez where Yorch was inspired to create the sculpture entitled Migrant Step.
