As an artist that is also pursuing a degree in science, the celebration of tools that have changed how we perceive our reality is very important to me. Astronomy has always been a passion of mine; since I was a little kid I would sit for hours contemplating the breathtaking sunsets and the clear and crisp nights full of stars that are so representative of our region. I understood that we are privileged to have such amazing skies that are recognized worldwide. I wasn’t as privileged to get a telescope until I was an adult; yet, every time I look through the eyepiece that little kid always peeks from within. That is why I would like to create a sculpture of a telescope that celebrates that passion for the skies, hoping to bring curiosity and interest from the community towards Astronomy and the role it plays in our lives, not only as individuals but collectively. Also, I would like to depict our culture through this work, representing our two border towns that interact like twin cities.
