Normally, the El Paso Community Foundation honors its The Classroom Fund grant recipients with a reception. Like many things, this year is different. Instead of a reception in the Foundation Room, area teachers participated in a drive-through to receive a variety of supplies including books, science kits, athletic equipment, technology and more.
El Paso Community Foundation staff loaded the awarded items in the grantee’s cars so they could still receive their materials before the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
A total of 66 El Paso and Las Cruces area teachers were selected for grants totaling $58,000 from the El Paso Community Foundation’s The Classroom Fund.
The Classroom Fund provides requested classroom materials directly to full-time educators in the El Paso-Las Cruces area. A full list of the grantees can be found at theclassroomfund.org.
Since its creation in 2011, The Classroom Fund has awarded more than $1 million in grants to area teachers. The Classroom Fund is a special project of the El Paso Community Foundation.
Applications for 2021 open in early April at theclassroomfund.org.
