We are winding down what is shaping up to be another successful Spirit of Giving effort. But there are still a few tags out there, and the drop-off dates for gifts at Cielo Vista and Sunland Park malls are imminent.
A few tags bearing the stories of children, elderly and disabled people in need hang from Spirit of Giving trees at both malls.
Today, December 19, is the last day to pick a tag of the story that moves you from the tree at Cielo Vista Mall, buy the gift, wrap it and return it, with the tag, to the nice folks at the mall.
The deadline for choosing a tag at Sunland Park Mall, buying a gift, wrapping it and returning it to the mall (with the tag) is Thursday, December 20.
All the gifts on the Spirit of Giving virtual tree have been purchased (some of the items are pictured here). A warm thank you to all of you who chose to purchase gifts anonymously that way.
And the deadline for donating gifts from the GECU/GECU Investment & Trust Services trees has passed.
The El Paso Community Foundation works with various nonprofits groups and agencies to identify the people they assist who are most in need. The Spirit of Giving campaign, now in its 30th year, helps you put gifts in the hands of those people during the holiday season. More than 57,000 gifts have been donated since the effort began in 1989.
