Jewel Box Series Presents Zemwerk's Lupercalia Uber Alles

The performance will beat at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 14 (Valentine’s Day) in the Philanthropy Theatre, part of the Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Centre.

Tickets are $16 at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets, (additional online charges may apply), 800-745-3000 and 915-546-0609.

Lupercalia Uber Alles was conceived by Zemwerk founder Stella Maria Perry, a former El Pasoan living in Brooklyn, and Mindy Chanson of El Paso’s Pasithea Dance Company. It is inspired in part by the Romulus and Remus myth and combines four one-acts, written by Perry and Mackenzie Cochran, with contemporary dance, choreographed by Chanson. It features an appearance by Tumbleweed Dance Collective.

“We draw inspiration from the pre-Christian Lupercalia fertility festival, medieval myth, cabaret music and post-apocalyptic anxiety,” Perry says, adding that Zemwerk’s second Jewel Box appearance is dedicated to David Bowie, who died January 10.
