3 additional authors added to TONIGHT'S SOMOS Fundraiser

Three additional authors have been added to tonight’s fundraiser for the SOMOS Fund at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 27 in the El Paso Community Foundation’s Foundation Room, 333 N. Oregon. Ron Stallworth, Benjamin Alire Sáenz, and Philip Connors will join Francisco Cantú, Alfredo Corchado, and Andrew Selee for the event.

The six leading authors will give a brief presentation about each of their new books: The Line Becomes a River, A Song for the River, Homelands, and Midnight in Mexico, Everything Begins & Ends at the Kentucky Club, and Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, Vanishing Frontiers, and Black Klansman: Race, Hate, and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime. A discussion addressing border affairs, immigration, and our region will follow moderated by Angela Kocherga, border correspondent, Albuquerque Journal. Our guests will offer insights on the future of binational relations and the role of the region with President Donald Trump and Mexico’s President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The authors will stay for a meet-and-greet reception and book signing. Individual copies will be available for sale at the event. You are welcome to bring your own copies to get them signed. A slack bag that contains three books of your choice will be available for a $100 donation and will include 2 drink tickets. All proceeds go to the SOMOS Fund.

The SOMOS Fund was established by award-winning journalist and author Alfredo Corchado and the El Paso Community Foundation to help Jaguares Jóvenes de Bien, A.C., which in turn provides support, mentoring and college scholarships for young victims of violence in Ciudad Juárez, México.
