Wanna go in “Whole Hog” for those with special needs in El Paso?
Come to the second annual The Whole Hog barbecue from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at Keepa’s Park, 5199 Grove East in Sunland Park, NM (it’s across from the Tennis West entrance).
A whole hog will be barbecued, and there will be plenty of other vittles for folks (including vegetarians) to eat. There will be live country music, dancing and more.
The Whole Hog is a fundraiser for the Down Syndrome Coalition for El Paso, a supporting organization of the El Paso Community Foundation.
DSCEP is the catalyst for a collaborative effort to open a preschool, Every Little Blessing, for children with Down syndrome.
The goal is to expand this into a preschool for children with other special needs, focusing on diagnostic-specific education.
El Paso has the highest birth rate for Down syndrome in Texas, about one in 645 births — or more than 25 births per year.
Tickets for The Whole Hog are $100 and available here.
